Healing with Chinese Medicine

What is Chinese Medicine?

Chinese Medicine is a complete and comprehensive system of medicine designed to treat holistically and gently. By recognizing the interconnection of physical, mental, and emotional well-being, Chinese Medicine is able to address conditions that are simple or complex, physical or emotional in nature. Treatment focuses both on relieving current symptoms and uncovering the root causes of disease, and so treatments are both corrective and preventative, and the benefits are often wide ranging.

Treatment begins with a 2-hour intake, which includes a comprehensive health history, discussion of your concerns and treatment goals, an in-depth pulse diagnosis, and initial treatment. From there, treatment will be customized based upon your particular condition & goals, and usually includes an initial course of weekly treatments for 6-10 weeks. I employ modalities that include acupuncture, herbal medicine, moxibustion, gua sha, diet & lifestyle modification, and meditative practices to help you achieve your health goals and find a greater sense of physical & emotional well-being.

acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine, stainless steel needles into specific points around the body. The needles stimulate the body’s energetic network (known in Chinese Medicine as Qi) and regulate the endocrine and nervous systems to help restore balance and activate your body’s own healing capacities. We use only sterile, single-use needles that are the thickness of a few human hairs.

Herbal Medicine

Customized herbal formulas support treatment for a wide range of conditions and, in many cases, can accelerate progress towards your treatment goals and help correct long-standing issues. Utilizing whole plant parts & other substances from nature, Chinese Herbal Medicine is the most comprehensive system of herbal medicine in the world today and a powerful natural medicine.

Moxibustion & Gua Sha

Moxibustion is the application of heat by burning the Chinese herb Ai Ye (dried mugwort) on or above acupuncture points. This gentle form of heat can improve circulation, stimulate the qi, nourish the body, and assist a range of treatment goals.

Gua Sha is a gentle soft-tissue treatment that stimulates the fascia and underlying tissue and improves circulation to an area, helping to alleviate chronic pain and stiffness.
